Who should you report to?

question 107 on Alexey's list of questions

One time I was being debugged in a picnic table with 5 Anthropic people and I joked that they are like my board. I think having a board who I go for feedback and questions would be good, but also for a sense of accountability and belonging. I think the main benefits of the board would be the feeling that you are working toward a mission with people who care about you. like knowing the board cares about me and I care about the board's opinions, and we both care about the mission. This is not too different from a group chat I have with two trusted friends who understand problems I'm working through and encourage me to do the Good thing. It usually looks like me reporting my wins that they have told me to do. I've also had a friend who I did a wake up call with to make sure we wake up at a certain time, or an exit ticket where I set an important thing I want to get done in a day and submit evidence that it is completed at the end of the day.
